A sutler is a civilian merchant who sold provisions to an army in the field, in camp, or in quarters. Primarily in business during the Revolutionary and Civil Wars, sutlers were a significant part of shaping the America we know today. From our post at the foot of the Hudson River, we aim to honor not only the entrepreneurial spirit our name evokes; but, also to carry on the legacy of the sutlers of our past, supplying men with the equipment needed to get the job done. Time has passed and the country has evolved, but for each man, his own personal challenges still remain. We're here to outfit you to take them on.
