Alpha Tau Omega was founded by Otis Allan Glazebrook, Erskine Mayo Ross and Alfred Marshall at the Virginia Military Institute in 1865 upon Christian, not Greek principles. ATO was the first fraternity founded after the Civil War in 1865 and it was the first fraternity that was founded on a new set of ideals and not in response or opposition of another fraternity. Famous ATO alumni include: Guy Fieri (TV chef), Steve Spurrier (college football player and coach) and Keith Jackson (Hall of Fame Broadcaster).
