Jack Rogers: Preppy Navajo Sandals, Wedges & Boots
Jack Rogers. A preppy staple that is in the ranks of iconic brands-think Lilly Pulitzer, Vineyard Vines, Barbour level of iconic. The story of how this brand came to be makes us love our Jacks even more. The prep guru, Jackie Kennedy herself, was vacationing in Capri, Italy when she happened upon a flat sandal constructed of leather and whipstitched detail. Jackie was so fond of the newfound sandal that she insisted on bringing it back with her to the good ole U.S. of A, and brought it to her cobbler. She requested that the shoe be used as a model to create several colors, and the rest is history (literally). Once recreated in Palm Beach, the thong sandals quickly caught on, thanks to friends of Jackie who also fell in love with the sandal. Although created in 1960, the brand has continued to grace the feet of young Jackie-wannabes to this very day.
Due to their success, Jack Rogers expanded to many lines of footwear including winter boots and espadrilles, and has even started making handbags. However, its most popular design is still the classic Jacks Flat sandal, with its original signature whipstitch and rondelle (the round piece in the middle). With these same design details that Jackie herself loved, the sandal can be worn with any summer outfit-from shorts and a button down, to a flippy sundress. For dressier occasions that require an extra lift, the Lauren Mid Wedge is the perfect option, with a double strap and wedge heel. There’s even a great option for beach footwear with the Georgica Jelly Sandal, an easy-wash alternative for sand and salt.
There is a reason Jacks continue to be the go-to sandal of preps everywhere. It doesn’t feel like summer without them, whether you are traveling abroad or simply spending your days at the club. This brand is prep to the core, and we are honored to introduce you to it.
